Moving from MoodleCloud
When your site outgrows MoodleCloud
MoodleCloud is a good, low-cost way to start. When you need plugins, your own domain or more users than its plans allow, a server of your own can cost less than you expect, and we move your site for you.
Who should stay on MoodleCloud
If your site has 200 users or fewer and you are happy without plugins or your own domain, MoodleCloud's smaller plans cost less than ours. We would rather tell you that now.

MoodleCloud's prices and limits are from its standard plans page on 3 November 2026, in US dollars. MoodleCloud bills in Australian dollars, so check that page for today's figures. Our full price list is on the prices page.
How the move works
- You export your site from the MoodleCloud portal, under Tools. Your site is unavailable while the export runs, which can take a few hours, so choose a quiet time.
- We set up your server, restore your site and bring it up to Moodle's current long-term support version.
- You check everything on a temporary address before anything changes for your users.
- We switch your domain to the new server. If your users know the moodlecloud.com address, we will help you tell them about the new one.
The move is free on 12-month plans, including the step up to the current long-term support version. On monthly or 6-month billing we quote it first.
