On MoodleCloud now?
Outgrown MoodleCloud? Get a server of your own.
When you need plugins, your own domain or more users than a MoodleCloud plan allows, a server of your own can cost less than you expect. A move is free on 12-month plans.

Privacy and security
Your content stays yours.
Course material and learner records are worth protecting, more so now that AI companies send bots across the web to collect pages. This is how we keep yours where they belong.
-
A server of your own
Your site runs on its own server, not shared with other customers' sites, in the region you choose.
-
We look after the server, not your content
We check that the server is healthy, never what is in your courses or learners' records. We only sign in to your site when you ask us to, or to keep it running and up to date.
-
Never used to train AI
We never sell your content, never use it to train AI, and never use it for anything except running your site.
-
AI crawlers turned away
Every site we set up refuses the known crawlers AI companies use to collect web pages. Search engines can still find the pages you choose to make public.
-
Courses behind a login
Moodle asks for a login before anyone sees a course, unless you choose to open one to guests.
-
Encrypted backups
Your site is backed up every day, and the copy kept off the server is encrypted before it leaves.
The details are on our privacy page and in our terms.
Questions
Good to know before you order.
What exactly do I get?
A server of your own, in the location you choose, with Moodle or IOMAD installed and set up by us. We then keep it updated and backed up, and check its health, for as long as your plan runs. You get full Moodle administrator access.
Do I need my own domain?
No. Your site goes live on a free web address as soon as it is ready. When you want your own, such as learn.yourcompany.com, connect it from the client area: we show you the one setting to add where you bought your domain, or add it for you at no charge. We do not sell or renew domains.
Who can see my site's content?
You, and the people you give accounts to, unless you open a course to guests. We look after the server, not your courses or learners' records, and only sign in to your site when you ask us to or to keep it running and up to date. We never sell your content or use it to train AI.
Can I add plugins and themes?
Yes. Tell us which ones you want, we check they work with your Moodle version, and install them for $15 each. A free theme, or one you have bought, is installed with your site.
Do I get root or SSH access?
No. Because we are responsible for keeping the server secure and up to date, we keep the root login. Your team gets full Moodle administrator access, which is everything you need to run your site.
How many users can my site have?
As many accounts as you like. What a plan limits is how many people use the site at the same moment. Each plan shows our estimate, and you can move to a bigger plan later.
How long does setup take?
Most sites are ready within 2 working days, India time, after payment. A person checks every order first. A move from another host depends on when we receive your site's export.
Can you move my existing site?
Yes, from MoodleCloud or any other host. A move is free on 12-month plans, including the step up to Moodle's current long-term support version. On monthly or 6-month billing it is $79, paid with your order, and moves your site as it is.
What about Moodle version upgrades?
Security and minor updates within your version are included. A version upgrade, such as 4.5 to 5.0, is $90 a step, and moving to the next long-term support version is free on 12-month plans.
How do I pay, and can I cancel?
In US dollars by PayPal, for a month, 6 months or 12 months. You can cancel any time, and your site runs to the end of the period you paid for. The terms explain refunds.
Is HND Hosting part of Moodle?
No. HND Hosting is an independent service of Hooknot Digital, run by Rohin Grover. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or certified by Moodle Pty Ltd.
